Riverlane, a quantum computing software company based in Cambridge, aimed to create a workspace that promotes well-being and productivity through biophilic design. The office, spanning multiple floors, required an integration of natural and replica plants across meeting rooms, quiet pods, and communal areas.
Riverlane requested a comprehensive planting solution that blends natural aesthetics with practicality. The brief included the installation of a moss wall, feature plants in key office areas, and adaptable planting in soft seating zones and collaboration spaces to create a dynamic and welcoming environment.
The main challenge involved coordinating the varied types of planting—such as high-level troughs, moss walls, and trailing plants—across different zones to ensure both functionality and visual consistency. The integration of existing plants also required careful maintenance planning to achieve cohesive growth and appearance throughout the office.
We installed a diverse range of plants, including Dracaena varieties, Kentia Palm, and Schefflera, across canteen and soft seating areas. High-level troughs in the lunchroom featured Scindapsus and Monstera Monkey Mask, providing a lush backdrop. A preserved moss wall and replica trailing plants enhanced the logo wall, while the quiet pods were enriched with wall-hung planters containing succulents. Additionally, cabinet-top planters filled with Aglaonema, Aspidistra, and Dracaena varieties were placed throughout the office.
The biophilic elements transformed Riverlane’s office into a space that supports focus, collaboration, and well-being. The integration of preserved and live plants offered a low-maintenance yet vibrant environment, aligning with Riverlane’s innovative and forward-thinking ethos. Employees appreciated the greenery, noting improvements in both aesthetics and work atmosphere, which fostered a sense of comfort and productivity.
