With this in mind we have come up with our top six plants that are great for the house, check them out…

The Best Indoor Plants

  • Dracaena Marginata AKA the Red-edged DracaenaWith its distinctive red-edged leaves, this spiky plant is great for the home. Research has found it is good at removing pollutants such as those found in paints, dyes and smoke. Place it in a room with reasonable amounts of sunlight for it to be happy.
  • Rhapsis Excels AKA the Broadleaf Lady Palm Just like the Red-edged Dracaena, the Broadleaf Lady Palm is also renowned for its pollutant squashing properties, in particular ammonia – often found in cleaning products so stick it in the bathroom or kitchen for cleaner air.
  • Crassula Ovate AKA the Jade plant For those without green fingers, a prerequisite for a houseplant is something that is easy to look after and the Jade plant is certainly that. Not only does it offer thick, shiny green leaves but it requires little water, can tolerate bright light and likes to be in normal room temperatures – easy peasy!
  • Spathiphyllum AKA the Peace Lily Really easy to grow, the Peace Lily is a must for those looking for an attractive yet low-maintenance plant. Keep the soil moist and the plant out of bright light and it will add life and charm to your home.
  • Hypoestes phyllostachya AKA the Polka Dot plant Perfect for adding a dash of colour to a room, the Polka Dot plant looks great in a living room or hallway. Preferring low light, keep the soil moist to ensure the plant thrives.
