As well as live planting, Plant Plan also specialise in replica, or artificial, plants and flowers. Modern replica planting is incredibly realistic, with some high end artificial plants not just mimicking the colour and shape, but also the feel of the real plant!
What are the benefits of replica planting? Good question! A key use for replica plants is in areas where the maintenance of live plants just isn’t viable. This can include in retail environments including shops and restaurants. Another reason for using artificial plants is in areas where conditions just aren’t suitable for live plants, such as in extremely cold or hot locations, or in areas where there is very little light.
Another important use for artificial planting is in planting schemes that just won’t work with live planting, such as where you want trailing Ivy on a ceiling ‘raft’ that has no inbuilt planter, or with small replica succulents implemented into a moss wall. The flexibility and creativity that using artificial allows designers is incredibly useful.
With outdoor projects where replica planting is being used we always recommend that high quality UV stabilised plants are used. This provides longevity and avoids the common mistake made of using interior-grade planting that then bleaches in sunlight and struggles to maintain it’s appearance when subjected to harsher conditions.
Plant Plan take a lot of pride in their ability to work with creatives and designers, helping them to realise their ideas and make their dreams a reality. Some examples of projects we’ve provided artificial plants for include shopping centres, restaurants, hotels, retail displays, offices, atrium’s, colleges, visual display projects, and hospitals.
