2017 Planting Trends

What's out and In in 2017? Read on below to find out the changes to planting trends taking place this year...

Brass and Terracotta Pots in

With Copper pots on the way out, more rustic brass ones will appear, along with terracotta pots and planters to give a unique rustic edge to plant displays. Terracotta has become increasingly more popular, especially reclaimed pots due to their look and the green credentials that recycling provides. Plant these lovely little pots with small succulents or cacti to be really 'on trend' this year!

Miniature Cacti in
According to John Lewis' shopping predictions, miniature cacti will be all the rage in 2017. They are easy to care for and don't take a lot of space but can have a big impact and add a lot of interest to an interior. Always a conversation starter, miniature cacti are always fun to have around. (click here to read a previous post on how to ward off annoying co-workers)

Ficus Lyrata out
The Ficus Lyrata (or Fiddle Leaf Fig) has been extremely popular last year as a statement plant. However, reports now suggest that this trend will be replaced with another feature plant, such as small olive trees or banana trees. Statement plants are making a big comeback, and with green being the colour of the year for 2017, this has increased the trend of plants even more. Suddenly, in the home and the workplace, people want to be seen with plants.
